Erster Cechov Workshop

Heute gehts los. Man bin ich aufgeregt. Ich habe schon geträumt alles was ich mache ist nur Blödsinn und die Studenten langweilen sich. Aber ich fühle mich gut. Ich hatte ja schon viel über den Sommer über die Übungen gelesen und schon welche aussortiert die ich machen möchte und selber ausprobiert. Ich habe mir auch schon ein bisschen ein Konzept überlegt wie man diese viele Themen doch etwas raffen kann und welche überhaupt nützlich im Jazz Kontext sind. Hier habe ich erst mal einen Ablauf gestaltet und ich hoffe ich komme mit der Zeit hin. Ich glaube das ist aber eine klare Einführung in das Thema und ich dachte es ist am einfacher mit der Geste anzufangen, da man denke ich dadurch leicht das Thema kapiert. Und gleich praktisch spürt um was es da vielleicht gehen könnte. Also eine spannende Reise für mich beginnt und ich hoffe ich kann den Studenten was mitgeben, was ihnen dauerhaft Support gibt und auch mir ehrlich gesagt zeigt was gut ist was nicht und was sich leicht in den Alltag als Übung integrieren läßt.

So hier ist der Este Plan für die erste Stunde:

Michael Cechov was a famous and must been a great actor working in Moskau after the revolution he went to Berlin than England and finally Los Angeles. A lot of famous actors worked or get influenced from him like Marilyn Monroe. Because he thought very different then other acting teacher at that time.I tried this technic a few years ago because your focus is mostly on one thing, not thinking do I know the lines, what are the others thinking of me. And it helped me to stay focused. Often in Jazz I also get lost, especially in the improvisation and I thought perhaps this technic could help to be focused on one thing and this is what I try to find with you. But also body awarness. Conection Body and singing.

This are the different elements of the technic. Or the ones which I thought could be helpful for us.

In the first lessons I will concentrate on the gesture.

5. Physical gesture:                                                                                       5 min

How or in what do you think could a physical gesture/movement could support a singer or /instrumentalist?

Or when you see an singer using movements for what?

collecting: intonation pitch, accents, dynamics, transport the waves, instruments, 

high and low notes.. But could also support head neck angering and its our instrument.

Think of Bill Evans/Count Basie (different sound), feelings(groove) make it bigger.

It seems the movement gives the brain a clearness of the will, of what we are doing, like a control, regulation

Es scheint auch so zu sein dass sie Bewegung zuerst ist bevor es das Gehirn kapiert hat, wie bei Licht und Ton beim Film.

So Cechovs idea is also to make the gesture invisible that bring us to the:

6. Psychological gesture (subtext)

Little journey in the acting world

He thought that we as an actor could also use this psychological gesture, to show what lies under the lines/text. To make our position and the situation in the piece clear. 

For example:

as an actor we always have to to find an underlining text that makes the situation clear. As we have a key in music.

8. Acting technic in the circle                                                                               15 min

Slap on the face: “I hate you because left me” (underline) feel the movement very sensual

Sentence „Where is the key“

Embrace „I will hug you, because you saved me“

“I hope we will will se us again”

as fist try to have really the feeling of the huging before you say the sentence.

and do it as sensual as you can, with all the memory of a hug

Where is the pont in this movement that is the most intensive moment, in the embrancing or hitting. This feeling try to loop play with it..
